Web Reputation is Vital in Content Security

Web Reputation Gateway security involves protecting your network by imposing controls over incoming content. Emails can contain viruses, malware, spam, phishes, and other undesirable elements; and web sites can contain malicious active code. But to have a complete security model, you must go beyond analyzing the content of what's coming in through your network perimeter. You also have to look at the web reputation of each sender.

The web reputation of each sender is an important factor to consider. With zero-day attacks becoming more prevalent, simple reactive systems that depend on keyword lists and signature databases are no longer adequate. Signature-based systems are an important part of protection, but they can't do the job alone. Attacks that have not yet been identified and categorized can penetrate thousands of computers in just minutes. This leaves a dangerous gap in protection that can only be filled with web reputation data.

By analyzing the web reputation of each and every sender, your security infrastructure, guided by Secure Computing's TrustedSource™ global reputation system, can determine on the fly whether or not any given sender is likely to be sending undesirable traffic. In this way, even if an email contains a piece of malware that has not yet been categorized by anti-virus engines, that email will still be flagged because the sender has a web reputation that indicates their sending habits.

Secure Computing's TrustedSource generates highly accurate web reputation scores to provide the "missing link" that has long been absent from Internet security. TrustedSource web reputation scores form the foundation of Secure Computing's entire range of messaging, Web, and network gateway solutions, accumulating data from over 7000 sensors in 51 countries to create highly accurate profiles of all sender activity on the Internet. TrustedSource uses these profiles to create a web reputation score for each sender, based on behavior. View the video and download the paper.

TrustedSource web reputation scores combat spam and other attacks with a sophisticated solution that is dynamic, comprehensive and precise, and is based on actual traffic. Like a virtual credit agency, TrustedSource assigns a web reputation score and classifies senders based on an in-depth analysis of more than a dozen attributes of each sender.
